Pausinystalia johimbe is commonly called Yohimbe that belongs to the family Rubiaceae. It is resident in Western and Central Africa. Mainly the bark of the tree is used for many herbal medicines. The major active component of Yohimbe is yohimbine. Yohimbine is an indole alkaloid.  Yohimbine is also known as quebrachine. It is a dietary supplement, rich in antioxidants. It has many medicinal values.

Yohimbe, derived from the bark of the Yohimbe tree  in Central and Western Africa, is harvested, dried, and ground into a fine powder. This powder is dissolved in alcohol or water to create extracts for supplements and traditional medicines. Primarily sourced from Cameroon, Gabon, and Nigeria, Yohimbe supply is threatened by overharvesting and deforestation. Efforts are underway to cultivate it sustainably in regions like South America.

The main phytochemical in the extract is the indologuinolizidine alkaloid yohimbine. It also contains other alkaloids, such as carynanthine and raubasine, with undefined properties. Yohimbine is one of the 55 indole alkaloids, it is the most active component among all alkaloids, which constitutes only 15% of the total alkaloid content. Others include rauwolscine, corynathine and ajmalicine, the bark also contains non-alkaloids.

The alkaloid content present in this product is not less than 25%.
