Also known as goji berry, Wolfberry belongs to the family of Solanaceae. Native to China, the plant has bright orange-red colour berries. It is a good source of polysaccharides, polyphenols, phenolic amides, carotenoids, flavonoids, and organic acids. It is rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. It also contains zeaxanthin, betaine, cerebroside, zinc, iron, and copper, selenium, Vitamin A, and fibres. It is known to be widely used as herbal medicine.
