Commonly known as Red elm, Gray elm, Soft elm, Moose elm, and Indian elm, this tree is a member of the Ulmaceae family. It finds its origins in Eastern North America. A distinguishing feature of the Slippery elm's bark is its mucilage content, which gives it a gel-like consistency. This bark also contains compounds such as Tannins, Calcium Oxalate, Phytosterols, Flavonoids, Salicylic Acid, Capric Acid, and Caprylic Acid. Moreover, it's a source of various nutrients, including vitamins C and B, as well as minerals like calcium, manganese, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, and potassium. Notably, the bark is also enriched with antioxidants like beta-carotene.
