It is also known as Fallopia japonica, Polygonum cuspidatum which belongs to the family Polygonaceae. It is native to Japan, China, and parts of Korea and Taiwan. Stilbenes, anthraquinones, phenylpropanoids (lapathosides), flavonoids, and tannins are the major bioactive components found in the root of this plant. Resveratrol is the major active component found in this product, it is a stilbenoid, a derivative of stilbenes. This root is a good source of powerful antioxidants that protects from oxidative stress. Resveratrol has many health benefits. Intake of this root is good for heart, brain, and skin health.
