Also known as Sour cherry, Dwarf cherry belongs to the family of Rosaceae. Flavanols, catechin, epicatechin, procyanidins B1 and B2 are the major bioactive components found in tart cherry. It has good antioxidant capacity. It is a good source of powerful antioxidants that protects from harmful oxidative stress. These berries are a good source of nutrition as they contain a quite good amount of carbohydrates, proteins, copper, potassium, manganese, magnesium, and Iron. The cherry also contains a good amount of vitamins like vitamins A, and B series. Intake of berries has many health benefits, it is good for the immune system, muscles, heart, and brain health.
