Saw palmetto is a type of palm tree that is native to the USA especially in Florida, Cuba, the Bahamas, and Georgia. It is extensively cultivated in some parts of China, and India. The tree grows basically in sandy soil, and produces berries containing large seeds. Many people think that Native Americans used these berries for nutritional properties and to improve prostate health. Now, people eat these berries or use them to make tea. The ground and dried saw palmetto is available as a tablet or capsules.
