Also known as bearberry, arando, mossberry, and fenberry belong to the family Ericaceae. It is native to northeastern North America. The major active components of this fruit are flavanols, anthocyanins, proanthocyanidins, catechins, hydroxycinnamic and other phenolic acids, and triterpenoids. It is a powerhouse of powerful antioxidants like quercetin that protect our cells from harmful free radicals. It is a good source of vitamins like thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, pyridoxine, vitamin A, C, E, and K, and contains a good amount of minerals like zinc, and potassium, iron, and magnesium.
