Also known as a Cascara sagrada and Cascara buckthorn, which belongs to the family of Rhamnaceae. Cascara is native to Columbia, California, etc. Cascara is the most laxative agent is used in the variety of purposes. Cascara contains many bioactive constituents like cascarosides A, B, C, D, E and F, 8-O-β-D-glucosides ,10-(R)(S)-desoxyglucosyl, chrysophanol, anthrone, Cascarosides E and F, 8-O-β-D-glucosides, emodin, anthrone, cascarosides, chrysaloins A and B, hydroxyanthracene, oglycosides, chrysophanol, anthrone-O-glycosides and C-glycosides. Cascara is good for stomach health and intestinal health also.
