Production & Sourcing

Calendula, also known as Pot Marigold, is a flower that belongs to the Asteraceae family. It is native to the Mediterranean region, but has now been introduced and cultivated worldwide. The flower blooms in late spring to early fall and is typically harvested when fully opened in the morning. The production and sourcing of calendula can vary, but here are some common methods:

1. Cultivation: Calendula can be grown in different types of soil, but prefers well-drained, fertile soil with a neutral pH. It can be propagated by seeds or cuttings and can be grown in both full sun and partial shade. Organic growing practices are recommended as calendula is known to absorb toxins from the soil.

2. Wild harvesting: In addition to cultivation, calendula can also be harvested from the wild. It is typically found in meadows, fields, and along roadsides.

3. Greenhouse production: In areas with colder climates, calendula can be grown in greenhouses to extend the growing season. This method provides a controlled environment for the plant to thrive in.
