Clitoria ternatea, regularly known as butterfly pea, is an herbaceous plant from the Fabaceae family. The chemical compound present in these flowers is flavonol glycosides, anthocyanins triterpenoids, and steroids. The blue color of Butterfly pea is due to various anthocyanin mostly ternatins. These anthocyanins are having good antioxidant property.
