Ashwagandha is also known as Indian Ginseng, Poison goose berry, winter cherry belongs to family Solanaceae, which is a perennial tender shrub whose leaves are small green, flowers are small, and fruit is orange red. The main phytochemical constituents are withanolides which are terpene lactones, contains withanolide, withaferin A, alkaloids, steroidal lactones, etc. It has been considered as an antidepressant.
