Glutathione, a tripeptide made of cysteine, glutamic acid, and glycine, is primarily produced by the liver and found in foods like fish, meat, fruits, and vegetables. However, factors like aging and stress can deplete its levels. Synthetic glutathione, sourced from fermentation using bacteria or yeast, is available in powder or capsule forms. Production utilizes various substrates like glucose or xylose, with some opting for non-GMO sources. Enzymes and additives aid in converting substrates into glutathione.
