Ginger is mostly harvested in India, China, Nigeria, Indonesia, Nepal, Bangladesh, Japan, Thailand, Cameroon, and Mali, though it can now be found worldwide. Ginger rhizome contains some major ingredients like 6-gingerol, 6-paradol and 6-shogaol. It also consists of zingiberene and bisabolene. Gingerols and shogaols give ginger its typical pungent smell. Ginger extract is found to be beneficial for health in many ways, as it can be used as dietary supplements. Intake of ginger is good for the heart, brain, joints, and gut health.
