Garcinia is a tropical fruit commonly found in Southeast Asia, India, and Africa. It belongs to the plant family Clusiaceae and is scientifically known as Garcinia gummi-gutta. The fruit is also commonly known as Malabar tamarind, brindleberry, or gambooge. Garcinia trees are medium-sized evergreen trees that grow up to 20 meters in height. They are mostly found in rainforests and thrive in a warm and humid climate. The fruit of the tree is pumpkin-shaped and can range from green to pale yellow in color. The trees take about 10 years to bear fruit, and the harvesting season usually lasts from June to August.The production of Garcinia involves several steps. First, the fruits are handpicked from the trees when they are fully ripe. The skin of the fruit is then removed, and the seeds are separated. The remaining flesh is then dried and ground into a fine powder, which is the most common form of Garcinia available in the market.
