Also known as female ginseng, Dong quai is a Chinese plant, belonging to the family of Apiceae. The roots of this plant are yellowish brown in colour and are mostly used for medicinal purposes. The chemical constituents present are polysaccharide, flavanoid, phytosterol, lingustilide, etc. It is also known to have antioxidant property.
