Production & Sourcing

Cantaloupe, also known as muskmelon, is a type of melon that belongs to the Cucurbitaceae family. It is a warm-season crop that is widely cultivated in different regions of the world including the United States, Europe, and Central Asia. The majority of cantaloupes are grown on large commercial farms using modern agricultural techniques such as irrigation, fertilization, and pest control.
The production of cantaloupe starts with the selection of high-quality seeds, which are planted in well-drained soil with sufficient organic matter. The plants require warm temperatures, plenty of sunlight, and regular watering to grow and produce healthy fruits. In order to achieve optimal flavor and texture, farmers often practice hand pollination of the flowers.
Harvesting of cantaloupe usually takes place between July and September, depending on the region. The fruits are harvested when they are fully ripe, which is determined by factors such as color, aroma, and firmness. Once harvested, cantaloupe is transported to processing facilities where they are sorted, washed, and packed for distribution.
