Belonging to the family of Bromeliaceae, Bromelain is a proteolytic enzyme. It is mainly extracted from the stem of pineapple that is called stem bromelain and can also extracted from pineapple fruit called fruit bromelain. It is found in white to tan colour powder and is soluble in water. Bromelain is a protein-digesting enzyme or protease. It has a number of health care and skincare properties.
