also known as Indian frankincense, salai guggul, or shallaki belongs to the family Burseraceae. It is native to hot regions of India. The major active components of these resins are monoterpenes, diterpenes, triterpenes, tetracyclic triterpenic acids, and important pentacyclic triterpenic acids i.e. β-boswellic acid, acetyl-β-boswellic acid, 11-keto-β-boswellic acid, and acetyl-11-keto-β-boswellic acid. It is well known for its health benefits. this resin is a good source of antioxidants that provides protection to the cells against oxidative stress. Intake of Boswellia as dietary supplement is good for heart, joints, and brain health.
