The walnut tree is a deciduous, woody large tree that bears round-shaped single seeded fruit, which belongs to the Juglandaceae family. Rich in protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals, Walnut is a highly nutritious fruit. Ellagitannin pedunculagin and phenolics are major active components in walnut fruit. The seven types of phenolics present in walnut are ferulic acid, vanillic acid, coumaric acid, syringic acid, myricetin, and juglone. It is also rich in antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids. Consumption of walnut is good for skin health.
