Also known as the Table beet, Garden beet, Red beet, Dinner beet, or Golden beet that belongs to the family Apocynaceae. It is native to Europe, Africa, and India. Betalains, betacyanins, betaxanthins, flavonoids, polyphenols, and saponins are the major active phytochemicals present in this Beetroot. It is a good source of minerals like potassium, sodium, phosphorous, calcium, magnesium, copper, iron, zinc, manganese, inorganic nitrate, and vitamins like folate, vitamin A, vitamin C. Potent antioxidants also present quite a good amount in this root that reduces the effects of free radicles. Intake of beet root is good for the heart, bone, brain, and liver health.
