Also known as French Artichoke and Green artichoke, Artichoke is a tall plant with deeply lobed green leaves. Its flowers have a large head grown out from edible buds. Artichoke contains apigenin and luteolin, while the pulp of its leaves contains Cynarin. It is also known to have a rich content of folate. Having a number of medicinal properties, it has been used in traditional medicine.
