It is a perennial flowering plant. It resident in Europe and Asian country. Its major active compounds are flavanones, alkaloids, and sesquiterpenes. It also contains valerenic acid, beta-sitosterol, ursolic acid, 4, 4', 8, 8'-tetrahydroxy-3, 3'-dimethoxyl-dibenzyl-ditetrahydrofuran and caryophyllene acide, valerane, naphthalene, linoleic acid, ethyl ester, myrtenyl acetate. It is used as herbal medicine. It has many health-beneficial components.
