Also known as the sweet root that belongs to the family Fabaceae. It is native to Southern Europe and North America. Glabridin, glycyrrhizin, thymol, phenol, isoliquiritigenin, and ferulic acid are the major bioactive components present in this root. It is very nutritious. This root is a good source of vitamins like thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, tocopherol, and minerals like calcium, choline, iron, magnesium, potassium, selenium, silicon, and zinc. This root is rich in beta-carotene, and quercetin like potent antioxidants. Intake of this root is good for the skin, immunity system, gut, and liver health.
