Chlorella is a green freshwater and single-celled algae. There are more than 30 species of chlorella available but, Chlorella pyrenoidosa and Chlorella vulgaris are the most common ones. Its cell walls are quite hard that cannot be digested by humans, so, it can be taken as a supplement in order to reap its benefits. Furthermore, chlorella has shown some promising results in cholesterol level regulation. You can find it in the form of a tablet, capsule, extract or powder as well. Many people call it a “superfood” due to its extensive nutritional profile. It is rich in protein, vitamins like B12 and C, iron, omega-3s and a bunch of minerals.
