Celery is a biennial marshland plant, belonging to the family of Apiaceae. The celery plant is generally slender with a height of around 2 to 3 feet. Found inside the flowers, the small brown seeds of Celery are used mostly for spices, while its extracts contribute in the making of herbal medicines. Providing low calorie fibre, celery gets its aroma and taste from the presence of Butylphthalide and sedanolide. Apiin and apigenin are the two prime extract products of celery.
