Acai berry is produced from the acai palm tree. It belongs to the Arecaceae family. Acai berries are small fruits, reddish-purple in color. It is resident in Central and South America. Acai berry is also called a Brazilian superfood because it is rich in antioxidants. Anthocyanins and proanthocyanidins are two major active components in acai berry. It is rich in fatty acids, especially oleic, palmitic, and linoleic acids but low in sugar. It has many health benefits. It is widely used in beauty products because of antioxidant property.
