Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus is a gram-positive bacteria from the genus Lactobacillus. It is a gram-positive rod that might appear as filamentous and long. Lactobacillus bulgaricus is non-motile and does not form spores and is regarded as aciduric or acidophilic since it requires a low pH levels to grow effectively. It is available as white to cream-colored, free-flowing powder and is used in foods or supplements often referred to as probiotics.
