Native to south Asia, cucumber is a creeping vine belonging to the family of cucurbitaceae. The fruits are cylindrical and elongated, having a water content of 95%. It is known to have low amounts of minerals and a vitamin K content of 16%. The presence of Cucurbitacins in cucumber gives a slightly bitter taste to the fruit.
