Aloe vera, scientifically known as Aloe barbadensis miller, is a succulent plant widely recognized for its medicinal and cosmetic uses. This spiky, perennial plant features thick, fleshy leaves filled with a gel-like substance that contains a variety of beneficial phytochemicals such as polysaccharides like acemannan, flavonoids as antioxidants for neutralizing free radicals, enzymes such as amylase and vitamins and minerals like vitamins A, C, E, B complex, and minerals like calcium and magnesium.
