Found predominantly in the western parts of Africa, Griffonia is a woody creeper, having green flowers and black pods. Its seed has been used for its extracts, known as 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-htp), which is a neurotransmitter, an important building block for human to form serotonin. The seeds of Griffonia are known to ease sleep and aid anxiety, headache, and depression. Griffonia triggers the production of serotonin, which uplifts the mood and eases pain.
