Tri means 3, and phala means fruits. So it is a polyherbal preparation comprising 3 kinds of fruits, i.e., Terminalia chebula Retz, Terminalia belliricaPhyllanthus Emblica L. This formulation is completely native to India.

Triphala contains major four phenolics chemical constituents as gallic acid, tannic acid, syringic acid, and epicatechin, along with ascorbic acid. But here, 40% of Tannin is present.
