Also known as Ragi, Finger millet belongs to the family Poaceae. It is native to Africa and India. Ferulic acid and p-coumaric acid are the major active components present in these grains. Intake of these grains is nutritious for health as it is a good source of carbohydrate, protein, and dietary fiber. Finger millet grains are also a good source of vitamin A and B, and also contain potassium and phosphorus-like minerals. These grains are also a good source of antioxidants that help in reducing the harmful effects of oxidative stress.
