Native to China and Thailand, Luo Han Guo is an herbaceous perennial creeper or vine, belonging to the family of cucurbitaceae. Also known as monk fruit, this plant is known mainly for its fruit extract called magrosides, which is sweeter than sucrose and used as a low-calorie sweetener. It has been used as a traditional Chinese medicine used for sore throat and cough.
