Lactobacillus casei are generally from dairy products as well as from vegetables and fruits. They play an important role as probiotic in human and animal nutrition. They produce lactic acids, hydrogen peroxide, bacteriocins and biosurfactants and hence provide protection to the host. They serve as antimicrobial agent by inhibiting organisms like E.coli, S. typhi, etc.
