It is woody perennial vine, native to Asia. It is creeper having leaves with soft hairs in it. It is otherwise known as Gymnema, Australian cowplant, Gudmar. Gudamr is a Hindi term means destroyer of sugar. It has been used as a Ayurvedic Medicine. Its leaves and extracts contain gymnemic acid which temporarily supresses the taste of sweetness, mostly preferred for diabetes.
