Also known as Brazilian Cocoa, Cacao Brésilien, and Guarana belong to the family Sapindaceae. The major active components present in these seeds are caffeine, catechins, theophylline, theobromine, terpenes, flavonoids, and starch. It is a powerhouse of potent antioxidants that protect skin from harmful reactive oxygen species. These seeds also have good nutritional value. Intake of these seeds is good for bone health, and heart health.

Guarana, a climbing plant native to the Amazon region of Brazil, thrives in tropical climates with abundant rainfall and rich, well-drained soil. Brazil is the primary producer, although it is also cultivated in smaller quantities in Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, and Bolivia. The plant matures and starts producing fruit in approximately three years.
Harvesting occurs by hand between February and May when the fruits are ripe. The main edible part, the seeds, are extracted, washed, and dried. The seeds are then roasted to enhance flavor and remove excess moisture before being ground into a fine powder for various applications.
