Production & Sourcing

Bryonia Laciniosa, also known as the Himalayan bryony, is a perennial herb belonging to the Cucurbitaceae family. It is primarily found in the Himalayan regions of India, Nepal, and Pakistan. Bryonia Laciniosa is a hardy plant that grows in a wide range of climatic conditions. It is usually found at an altitude of 1500-2400 meters above sea level. The plant has a climbing habit and produces long, thin, and twining vines. The mature plant can reach a height of up to 5 meters. The production and sourcing of Bryonia Laciniosa involve several steps. First, the seeds or seedlings are planted in well-drained and fertile soil. The plant requires a moderate amount of water and thrives in partial shade. It takes 2-3 years for the plant to reach maturity and produce fruit. Harvesting of the fruit is usually done in late summer or early fall. The berries are left to dry in the sun for a few days before they are cleaned and sorted. The dried berries are then crushed and ground to a fine powder, which is the most commonly used form of the herb.
