Ashwagandha is also known as poison gooseberry, Indian ginseng, or winter cherry. It is a small plant that produces yellow flowers and belongs to the family Solanaceae. Berries, leaves, and roots of this plant are used in ayurvedic medicine. The major active components of Ashwangndha are withanolides, withaferins,  saponins. It also contains isopelletierine, anaferine, cuseohygrine, anahygrine, and sitoindosides, acylsterylglucosides, . It is rich in antioxidants. It has many health benefits so it is widely used in ayurvedic and herbal health care products.

They occur as secondary metabolites. It is having many beneficial roles like antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, etc.
